Low Temperature Combustion

Examination of the Thermodynamics of Low Temperature Combustion

Supervisors: Prof. Andre Boehman, Department of Energy & Geo-Environmental Engineering Visiting Scholar: Junichiro Suzuki (Honda Motor Company)

Objective: The mechanisms of destruction of thermodynamic availability during low temperature combustion to assess means of understanding the differences between “efficient” low temperature combustion and other low temperature combustion modes

Approach: This project will rely on a heavily instrumented VM Motori 2.5L turbo diesel engine connected to an AVL Indimodule combustion analysis system. The engine also includes open access to the ECM via a computer interface.
