Low Heat Rejection Diesel Engine – Development of High Temperature Lubricants

Supervisors:
Dr. Harold McCormick, C-K Engineering
Prof. Andr‚ Boehman, Department of Energy & Geo-Environmental Engineering
Prof. Joseph Perez, Department of Chemical Engineering

Sponsor: US Army, TACOM

Student: Peter Perez

Objective:
Develop and characterize high temperature lubricant formulations, achieving vapor phase lubrication conditions, for low heat rejection engines

Approach:
The experimental facility consists of a single-cylinder Yanmar LA100 naturally aspirated DI diesel engine configured as a 28VDC generator and connected to a load bank for controlled load generation.
